Own It!!

As we prepare to attend LDStorymakers Writers Conference, or any conference for that matter, we hope to make a great impression, especially when it comes to agent/publisher pitch sessions and meeting people who could further our careers.

The very thought makes confidence crash to the floor as we wonder if we'll be able to pull it off. We consider how to present our pitch, if we should memorize our pitch or just wing it, and also our appearance. Some pull their best digs from their closet and dress for success. Others take the more casual route.

While I'm not going to get into the wrongs and rights of what you should wear and how much money you should spend on a new hair style, I do want to say one very important thing . . .

Don't fake who you are. Be yourself. Show the agent your personality. Walk in the room with your head held high and have pride in knowing you are honestly representing the wonderful, unique person you are. Show them your confidence and be the best YOU you can be.

Own it, baby!!

  1. YES! I loved this because it's so much what we talk about with our boys. There's this kid at karate who just ROCKS IT. Every time. Even when he makes a mistake, or his uniform is goofy--he doesn't let it stop him. He just rocks it. So we talk about this--about "pulling a Weston". Because Weston is just awesome at being him and everyone loves him for it. It's a great skill to have--to OWN WHO YOU ARE and to ROCK IT!

  2. Love it! It's so important to "let your light shine" and part of that is to have the confidence that no matter what, you are of great worth! :)
